What is your most influential japanese anime?

When i was growing up i was fascinated watching cartoons especially japanese robots. At that time i didn't know that those japanese animation are called "Anime". I know you guys/gals have a lot of favorites animes to choose from, but only pick the top 3 animes that was very influential in your life and made you watch anime.

Here's mine.
1. Voltes V
2. Daimos
3. Macross/Robotech

Samurai X siguro. I've seen how Kenshin fights. Sometimes his words are his edge against powerful opponents. Meaning, not everything can be settled by brute force or plain violence.

i only got 2... dragonball Z kasi its the very first ever anime ive watched, sa channel 9 pa to back in 93 or 94 yata pero probably the most influential para sa kin would be evangelion. To those who've watched the original series of eva would know why - it is literally mindrape lalo na yung patapos na ang series. Not even the rebuild can change how the orig series affected the series' most hardcore fans.

Transformers
- OK ok.. It's not Japanese at first glance. But it's originated from Japan. For me it's an Anime. And this was totally anime-ized in their 1986 Movie & Season 3's "Call of the Primitives". Check the animation. Influential in sense that this made me appreciate everything robots & mechas. If the Marcos Babies have Voltes V, Mazinger Z or Grendizer, Me I have Transformers. From transformation to combination. They nailed something.

Dragonball Z
- This anime defined the words EPIC PROPORTIONS as far as action scenes is concerned. We see other animes having awesome fighting scenes but we remember DBZ on it.

Yuyu Hakusho
- I think this show got what a "Fighting Tournament" theme the best & every anime just copied it.

Voltes V / Daimos / Robotech(Macross Saga)
- Full package of action, drama & romance story telling in a mecha genre. It shows that no matter what kind of visual medium is used in entertainment, Story telling is really what drives a show. Teleserye/novela in cartoon form.

Gundam (the serious ones)
- The implication of Human Greed in different form can bring to the world especially in moral & political scope. To some, the plots is fictional. But when Gundam Seed/Destiny & Gundam 00's shown their plots, it's not far fetched in the future.

Sa mga old school na katulad ko. Iyong voltes/daimos ang #1 anime. Ganda kasi ng story and action. 2nd episode pa lang voltes v namatay na agad si mrs. armstrong ... basta ganda plot ng story hindi lang bakbakan. Noong mid 90's ayan medyo nagiging okay na mga animes .. dyan na pumasok ang cowboy bebop, dragon ball z, gundam wings, sailormoon, ruruoni kenshin, inuyasha, and pokemon .. tapos sa 2000's nan dyan na naruto, one piece, death note, kuroko's basketball.

Yuyu Hakusho - Love the whole series, from the Toguro tournament until the Yomi/Raizen/Mukuro saga
Death Note - Battle of wits, parang Game Of Thrones
G Gundam - The only Gundam series i ever appreciated na walang naglalaban sa outer space...
Zenki - Pure Bad Ass, saka mix ng kabastusan at humor si Zenki pag maliit na form sya..
Ghosts At School - Kakatuwa yung mala Ghost Busters styles nila
Ah My Goddess - Fave namen ng ex gf ko dati......

I guess, Gundam. Since no question sa akin panoorin ang mecha animes. I still remember na pinapasa-pasa namin yung Beta tapes at VHS tapes. Wow. Tumanda ako bigla sa post na to.

Children, ganyan kami dito noong araw na walang internet. Nanonood kami ng anime galing sa mga bootlegs tapes dahil yun lang talaga yung source ng anime. Yellow pa nga yung subtitles ng mga fansubbers dati.

And of course, Ninku. It took me a while para panoorin ang Naruto. Lalo na yung lumabas yung rasengan.
Ninku's action scenes and animation were topnotch back then.

naabutan ko pa to dati! vhs nga lang. nung uso pa arkilahan ng mga betamax/vhs tapes nauso mga anime vhs like dbz na directly recorded on air sa japan kasama pa mga commercials haha. Nung natuto ako mag record sa vhs nirecord ko buong tournament fight ni eugene at taguro way back on-air sa ibc 13 tapos kelangan pa timing sa pag pindot ng pause or else damay yung commercials haha... this was way back 95 or 96 ata

Voltes V - first mech anime ko
Samurai X - dahil loosely based sa japanese history
DBZ - tuwing sunday kaming mga magkakaibigan sa isang bahay nanonood and umaarkila kami ng vhs dbz movies kahit japanese and walang eng subs feel na feel namin..
Thunder Jet and BT'X - kami nung bestfriend ko walang pinalagpas na episode..
Naruto - wala sikat eh...
Pero pinaka influential talaga for me slam dunk sakto HS player na ako and ako pinaka matangkad sa amin.. Yung line na the one who controls the rebound controls the game sineryoso ko and inimprove ko pag box out pero I was already known for blocking shots nung elementary pa lan where kahit team ng 4th year tinatalo namin and yung center nila lagi ko huli ng tapal..
