Modern Warfare 3 promises 'unprecedented online universe'
Activision unsurprisingly has high hopes for this year's Call of Duty game, saying it will set a new standard in the genre and include an '
unprecedented online universe'.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg talked up the next CoD game in the firm's investors call earlier today. "By any measure, Call of Duty is one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world and we expect this year's game will set a new standard in the franchise," he said.
"The creative excellence and sheer scale of the game we are making, and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it will re-set the bar for this genre, giving players a new level of immersion, connectivity, community and of course epic action. The game to date has exceeded every internal milestone and we look forward to sharing it with you soon."
Hirshberg went on to say the firm is committed to pouring investment back into the Call of Duty franchise that's been fattening its wallets over the past few years in efforts to "take the experience to an entirely new level".
Sure, without seeing the game in the flesh it's all just hype to you, but it certainly sounds like Activision means business and it definitely has the money to spend. More details are expected within weeks.
Earlier in the presentation, Activision confirmed that it's developing a micro-transaction game in the Call of Duty franchise exclusively for China.
