This week’s Japanese magazine leaks reports that Killer is Dead director Goichi Suda is working with Namco Bandai on an upcoming PlayStation 3 side-scrolling game, Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day.
The game is based on Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo’s upcoming film, Short Peace, which will play in theaters later this month. The film is made up of four short films with different styles and stories, directed by Otomo and others. Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day will be considered the fifth short story of the film, but it’s a video game.
Goichi Suda, known for Killer is Dead and No More Heroes, is the scenario writer for the game. He will team up withTokyo Jungle director Yohei Kataoka who will be the directing the upcoming title. According to leaks, Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day is a 2D side-scrolling “high-speed effect action†game, that will require the use of “effects†to take out enemies. The game’s theme will be in a modern day Japan setting.
Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day is currently in development for PlayStation 3.

Gaijinworks has announced that is will be releasing Summon Night 5 and Class of Heroes 3 for PlayStation Portable in North America and Europe. The company is working together with Monkey Paw Games to release the two titles, which will be available digitally and playable on PlayStation Vita. Both games will also receive a poll at a later date to determine potential interest in a physical release (with digital code also included).
Summon Night 5 is a strategy RPG that focuses on the story of a society called the Eucross, which uses Summoners to keep the balance between different races and worlds. Players can choose between playing as new Summoners Folth or Arca, with each selecting one of four potential partners, know as their Cross. Events will change based on the selected character and partner. The game developed by Felistella and was published in Japan in 2013 by Bandai Namco, and is the first mainline Summon night series title to be localised into English, with two action RPG spin-offs being released in America for Game Boy Advance and one more for Nintendo DS.
Class of Heroes 3, from Acquire, is the latest title in the dungeon-crawling series, with Gaijinworks and Monkey Paw Games bringing over the previous game on PSP and PS3 in 2013 and 2014 respectively. This game features three schools for players to choose as their home base, with the school chosen affecting the character's uniforms and the game's difficulty. Class of Heroes 3 also features an inter-party affinity system and ambient music within its labyrinths.
There are no release dates or pricing details at this time, though Summon Night 5 is slated for release some time in 2015. These details will be revealed after the physcial edition polls. Some announcement media for both games can be seen below.

Bandai Namco trademarks Zodiac Brave in Japan

e’re not sure what the trademark might be for. At first glance, it sounds like something Saint Seiya-related. Further research reveals a possible Final Fantasy Tactics connection, as well—the “Zodiac Brave Story.†Though, given Square Enix’s ownership of the Final Fantasy Tactics IP, this probably means nothing. Though it could mean we’re looking at a similar style tactical RPG.
Outside of the Bandai Namco trademark, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan also filed a trademark for something called “Meta Bouken†(Meta Adventure).

Gaijinworks has released an English trailer for the upcoming Western release of PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita game, Summon Night 5. The trailer offers a first look at the English language version of the game.
Summon Night 5‘s $42 Physical+Digital Edition is still available for pre-order on Gaijinworks’ website until September 7. The developer has said that a digital version will be coming to PlayStation Network this Fall.
Bandai Namco filed a new set of trademarks in Japan.
The full list includes:
“Baloon Bashâ€
“Brave Scrambleâ€
“Tales of the Bestâ€
“Mitsukete!â€
“Tales of the Best†sounds like it might be some sort of Tales of collection, or a fighting game featuring characters from the franchise. We’re not sure about the rest.
Square Enix also filed a trademark for “Dimension W,†a manga series it owns (which is getting an anime in 2016), and Nintendo filed a trademark for “Splatoon,†a Wii U game it launched in May.
