For me, the only difference is the PS2 games and the button configuration. The X and O are inverted! Like in the US version, to start, press X but in the JAP, it's O. Pisses me off cuz i can't use the cheat on rockband 1!

mga sirs/maams, questions lang... i have a 80gb HK CECHL12 PS3 and i'm currently using my year 2000+ JVC interiart CRT TV model AV-29L31-ph (which i think is actually a multisystem tv kase it's not that old naman). i have games mostly R3 and some R1 and some demos from both the US PSN and HK PSN. some play well while others like my batman AA R3 dont seem to work well with my display (black & white flickering while playing) even though its R3. i have also PS home, and some bunch of vids/demos which seem to take the same effect with my ps3 and tv. so obviously here's my questions: does this mean that even if i have Region 3 games/demos and an Asian unit some still dont get to be compatible? or is it with the cable i'm using kaya? i only have the composite one. can a component cable remedy this?

Hi! I recently bought a PS3 Slim and was also wondering then if I should go with the US or the Asian version. I finally went for the US one.
Differences: not much. The only things I can be sure of now are:
1. The "confirm" and "cancel" buttons. If your PS3 is the US version, "confirm" would be "X", and "cancel", O. For the Asian ones, the buttons are interchanged.
2. BD and DVD movies playback capability. PS3s are region-locked when it comes to playing video discs. So if your PS3 is Asian, which makes it region 3 (R3), then your console can play only R3 discs. US PS3s are R1.
Things in common:
1. Playing games. Games are region-free, so you can play both R1 and R3 games on your PS3, regardless of your console's region/version.
2. Voltage ratings. Normally, US appliances/gadgets operate on 110V, while Asian ones do on 220V. However, it is CONFIRMED that the US PS3 (Slim version, at least. I don't know about the fat one) works on 220V.

Congrats on your new purchase!
Either US or Asian unit ang bilin mo, wala ka namang talo diyan. Any PS3 game pwede namang malaro.

I don't think meron probLema yung cabLe mo, should be your TV, multi-system po ba?mewtation06 wrote:mga sirs/maams, questions lang... i have a 80gb HK CECHL12 PS3 and i'm currently using my year 2000+ JVC interiart CRT TV model AV-29L31-ph (which i think is actually a multisystem tv kase it's not that old naman). i have games mostly R3 and some R1 and some demos from both the US PSN and HK PSN. some play well while others like my batman AA R3 dont seem to work well with my display (black & white flickering while playing) even though its R3. i have also PS home, and some bunch of vids/demos which seem to take the same effect with my ps3 and tv. so obviously here's my questions: does this mean that even if i have Region 3 games/demos and an Asian unit some still dont get to be compatible? or is it with the cable i'm using kaya? i only have the composite one. can a component cable remedy this?

Not sure. But if my memory serves me right, Dubai is part R2 region. So probably PAL?
Check the box to be sure. I know it is stated at the back of the box.

guys, I have a question. We're getting a classic PS3 from Dubai.
the problem is, they say it's PAL, not NTSC. and most TVs here locally are NTSC.
how do I play it because it's PAL?
and can it play Region 1, 2 and 3?
thanks guys.

NO problem yan bro as swine said... Id say a good majority of CRT TV are already multi system (check your tv' video output settings kung may PAL, NTSC, SECAM et. al) Most likely naman multi system tv mo. Ngayon kung LCD tv mo 100% sure yan.edricdude wrote:guys, I have a question. We're getting a classic PS3 from Dubai.

Actually IMHO medyo overrated ang problems in playing R2 games considering that most TV units naman talaga available now are multi system.
You can play any game, any region on your PAL PS3 unit. Ang TV brodcast signal natin fixed sa NTSC, but the Video settings of your Multi system TV, sigurado may PAL yan.
