not all Steam games have Steam achievements, some games you can use the CD-Key for it to be associated with Steamplay features, but its a short list of games like for example if you buy a Witcher 2 from anywhere but Steam, you can't get the achievements for it because you can't use the cd-key to get the Steam copy

CDP Summer Conference 2011 Breakdown

CD Projekt, the creators of The Witcher series and operators of Good Old Games, famous for it’s extensive range of classic PC games, have just wrapped up their Summer conference. Aired over Ustream online, they made a few announcements, teased a load more, and showed off a teaser trailer for the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2. Also GOG.com got some new things to be excited about.

If you’d like to watch the recorded conference and be all surprised for yourself, see below and refrain from reading any further until you’ve finished.

The Witcher 2

The Witcher 2 shipped 400,000 units within 7 days of release.
The 1.2 patch has been announced, available from tomorrow. The 1.2 patch will include all available DLC free of charge, along with approximately 50 issues being addressed with updates to the game. The changelog will be made available at the official Witcher site later on today. The patch also removes any DRM if you’ve not updated yet.
New free DLC will be made available adding hairstylists to the game, so you can change Geralt’s haircut (including to his appearance in the first game).
The Xbox 360 version has been officially unveiled, with the game hitting shelves towards the end of the year. This gives them enough tme to be able to release a polished version. CD Projekt intend the game to be a faithful port.
There’s a live playable demo of the Xbox 360 version at E3 (playable by media and appointment only).

There was no word about a PS3 release, but due to the considerable differences in development for the sony platform from a dev perspective (and the relative simplicity of porting PC games to Xbox) it won’t be for a long time – if at all. Remember, it took Valve years to develop for the platform.

guys help naman sa settings. hindi kasi masyado stable ang framerate ko around 20-30 fps lang. nakalow settings ako @ 1920x1080. any tips on improving performance?

here's my rig:
core i3 540
palit gts 450 1gb
2gb ram

mag-iimprove kaya kung magupgrade ako ram? balak ko na din kasi. saka wala pa ako patch hindi ko pa naupdate. may improvement ba talaga sa performance pag nadownload ang patch?

^tinapos ko with no patch @ 44fps average, 1680x1080, high settings, some @ max, ubersampling is off

you might want to upgrade ram to reduce disk access but it won't really help with the frame rate, upgrading your GPU is the best way, or reduce your resolution to max 1440x900, your gpu might be having bandwidth issues due to the narrow 128bit memory interface @ high resolutions.

GTS 450's architecture is mostly optimized for 1680 x 1050 resolution and below so need to turn your res down. 4GB rams is also recommended these days.

I think 4GB Ram is the bare minimum these days for me.....

1 or 2 GB is no longer enough
