Source: http://www.qj.net/qjnet/news/mortal-kom ... ailed.htmlThe pricey little baubles that usually come with special editions are more often than not toys, books, or DLC that come wrapped in meticulously designed packaging. The Mortal Kombat reboot has those too, but they actually come in a packaging that can be used to hand out massive doses of virtual whup-ass.
The Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition is your typical limited edition package. The fancy packaging holds a copy of the game, a Scorpion or Sub-Zero "kollectible figurine" that can be used as bookends, and an Art of Mortal Kombat book.
Pre-ordering from GameStop will also net you a playable Klassic Scorpion character complete with his Fatality. Amazon is going with Reptile while Best Buy is giving away Sub-Zero.
You can get all of those plus some DLC goodies for US$ 99.99. A bit pricey, but that's actually the cheaper version.
If you have US$ 149.99 to spare, the Tournament Edition is the one to get. It comes with a bunch of DLC like Retro-Ninja costumes and stuff for customizing your PSN or Xbox Live avatar. The classic character pre-order freebies also seem to apply to this edition.
Best of all, this is what it comes in:
Yep, the packaging is an actual working fight stick made with Suzo Happ parts and reminiscent of old traditional arcade cabinets. Even the button layout follows the one used in old Mortal Kombat arcade games. It's also easy to fix or customize as the innards are kept in a transparent enclosure.
The tournament stick might also be made available as a separate item according to the Mortal Kombat Twitter account, but that's not a confirmed thing yet.
Mortal Kombat comes out next year on PS3 and Xbox 360.
