kung may common philippine backbone kasi yung mga sites na nasa pinas mas mabilis mo na makita. kasi mga hindi interconnected na ISPs natin para maka connect ka from one to the other eh iikot pa sa US or some other country yung connection mo. kaya minsan mas mabilis pa mag browse ng US site than a local one.

at kung may local backbone ang Pinas, it will free up a considerable amount of bandwidth that goes internationally

But the backbone, in the deal, is meant for Gov't use and not for the private sector.

To tell you frankly, nung naka-smartbro ako dati, hindi ako nakakapanood sa Youtube while downloading torrents. Well now, no problem na.

Thanks to globe. :-)
@agent_rhy
yup tama k. mas mabilis nga globe s smartbro. dati yung adek p ako s RO hndi ako makapag level up ng matino kasi lag tapos n ddc p. mas mabilis p dial up :D

One thing sure about the deal is the Inter-connection of Gov't offices. WANs and LANs of Gov't LGUs. On this part with or without THE Internet, target Gov't offices shall be interconnected with each other thus it is strictly Gov't. Technically you could set-up VPN's passing thru Globe, PLDT, Bayantel, Digitel, etc. which are private entitites but the network is for Gov't. In short, Gov't WAN.

Honestly, I don't know what you meant by "kung private network yan, hindi internet yan". Maybe we can start by saying I'm working at PNB and we have WAN, its a private network. But we are also connected to the internet. Does that mean we can not regulate our own WAN because we are also connected in the internet? As for my understanding a Gov't Backbone shall be established, not a backbone for private ISPs.

Pero sana nga may backbone na rin that our local ISPs, kung pwede sumakay sila dun sa Gov't natin, why not?

isn't one purporse of the NBN is to provide a broadband network for internet access for public schools? tsaka i read somewhere that part of its purpose is a philippine internet backbone nga

if they just want to hook up government offices, they don't need to put up an infrastructure, they can just VPN

iba yung NBN broadband deal sa cyber-ed. sa cyber-ed via satellite daw at simultaneous transmission to all public school. e di maglagay ka na lang ng tv with cable connection, or cheaper - tv with disc player.

kung gagawin philippine backbone nga yung isa then baka kumita pa gov't out of this kasi dun kakabit mga ISPs/Telecoms, mas maigi kung ganon.

may comment na ba ang Globe, PLDT, BayanTel, Digitel etc. regarding this?

as far as I know wala.

EDIT:

oops! meron pala :heh:

Operating NBN would be a viable business--Smart, Globe

There are many good points here -> Escudero: ‘Should gov't own a broadband network?’

gasp! hindi pala pwedeng kumita gov't dito, puro expenses
The opposition senator stressed that the E-commerce Law requires that government should not engage in running a telecommunications business.

Formoso agreed but he also pointed out that the law does not mean government cannot operate an NBN.

don't know if this was posted before, pero, for BayanDSL users, meron tayong Speed On-demand that we can access from 10PM - 10AM. sakin, nagd-double speed ng internet ko pag ginagamit ko to, minsan umaabot ng 500+ kbps. by the way, my DSL plan is 256 kbps.

to activate it, just append @sod to you PPPoE username, and that's it!

Hehe dagdag pa diyan na ngayon nag upgrade na ng speed ang BayanDSL. Email them na or call them para ma up DSL speed niyo. Yung maka nakaplan 899 na dati 384 lang ang speed and ang SOD ay 768kbps. Ngayon 768kbps na standard speed and 1280kbps na kapag SOD.

sir my contract with smartbro is about to expire na now, i would like to get your opinion or suggestion which provider should i choose and what plan (preferably 1k+ budget) for ps3 online gaming?

the isp should have the ff (more or less close):
1. to be able to play ps3 games online without lags less or totally
2. to be able to make my nat type to nat2
3. to be able to make use of portforwarding
4. bonuses say free printer, monthly service fee, etc.
5. fast installation
6. money guaranty
7. good service "the customer is always right!"
8. fast video streaming/downloading of files
9. reliable video chat (yahoo/msn/etc)
10. free email and web space
11. off-peak burstable speed
12. no more portals (plug & play as possible)!
13. good security/hack free

thanks for feedbacks/suggestions...

^ Parang PLDT DSL ang bagsak mo niyan archangel_1680. Most of the options you specified up there ay meron sila. Portforwarding, fast video streaming/DLing, free printer (depends on the package), etc..
