Dragon Quest X Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS Via Streaming
MMORPG Dragon Quest X is coming to the Nintendo 3DS, Square Enix have announced—well, sort of. The game will run on the 3DS using cloud streaming, similar to the smartphone version.
Dragon Quest X will be released on the Nintendo 3DS on September 4th. It will cost 3,800 yen and the 3DS version will be able to play with the other platforms the game is on.
Note that the 3DS version of the game will not support stereoscopic 3D. And yes, it will require a subscription fee like the other versions of the game.
Here’s how the subscription rates work on 3DS:
3-day pass: 350 yen + tax
10-day pass: 650 yen + tax
30-day pass: 1,500 yen +tax
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu included an interview with Dragon Quest X Producer Yosuke Saito and Director Chikara Saito, giving an update on the state of the game.
First of all, we get the confirmation that the game is currently in development for Nintendo NX, alongside the already confirmed PS4 version. About a year ago, Square Enix announced that NX ports of Dragon Quest X and XI were under consideration. It’s worth mentioning that this interview was specifically about Dragon Quest X, and it included no confirmation about an NX port of Dragon Quest XI.
When asked when the PS4 version would be released, Yosuke Saito mentioned that it will be released (in Japan) with good timing, well ahead of Dragon Quest XI.
A few details were also given about version 4 of the game, which is currently on version 3.3 in Japan. It’s being developed at the same time as new content for version 3, even if no specific release date can be provided. The team has already stared planning a new class that will be implemented with version 4.
