Ten years ago, Sony released an interactive toy in Japan called Dokodemo Issho for the PlayStation. The only game to really use the now-forgotten PocketStation to serious effect, the title allowed you to converse with a variety of virtual characters and have fun teaching them stuff. Chief among these AI avatars was Toro, a white cat with an easily-swayed attitude and a fervent desire to become human someday. Toro is cute, and in Japan, being cute can get you everywhere, so ten years on and Sony's still making cute virtual-interaction games starring Toro that we'll never get over here. Life is cruel sometimes.
The latest one announced -- just in time for Dokodemo Issho's tenth birthday -- is Toro to Morimori, slated for a summer PS3 release in Japan. Toro's been busy for the past couple years with Mainichi Issho, a PS3 online game that's a mix of social interaction and multiplayer minigames, and this disc is basically an expansion on that title, with over 30 expanded minigames and a variety of new mini-stories for Toro and the rest of the characters that inhabit its world.
Will Toro ever realize his dream of becoming human? Don't look at us. It's not like Sony's gonna start releasing the series in English starting with this game or nothin'. It is cute, though.
