In a suprise announcement following the award ceremony at this weekend's Japan Gamer's Live event, Tecmo Koei producer Yosuke Hayashi announced Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, coming to Japanese PS4 and Xbox One consoles in spring of next year.

No information on a Western release — in fact very little information at all, aside from the teaser trailer below (courtesy of Esuteru) and the spring 2015 release date.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on February 17 in North America and February 20 in Europe.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will cost $39.99, while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will cost $29.99.

In North America, pre-orders at GameStop will include the “Ninja” (for Ayane, Hayabusa, Hayate, and Kasumi), and Aloha (for Ayane, Hitomi, Kasumi, and Mila) costume sets. Pre-orders at Amazon and Best Buy will include the “Showstopper” (for Christie, Helena, Lisa, and Tina) and “Beach Party” (for Kokoro, Leifang, Momiji, and Rachel) sets.

In Europe, pre-orders at GAME will include the “Ninja” (for Ayane, Hayabusa, Hayate, and Kasumi) and “Aloha” (for Ayane, Hitomi, Kasumi, and Mila) costume sets. Pre-orders at ShopTo.net will include the “Ninja” and “Showstopper” (for Christie, Helena, Lisa, and Tina) sets. And pre-orders at Centresoft and independent retailers will include the “Ninja” and “Beach Party” (for Kokoro, Leifang, Momiji, and Rachel) sets.

PlayStation 4 users will be able to download Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Core Fighters, a free version of the game including fighters Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi, and Ryu Hayabusa, and almost every game mode. The game can be expanded with additional purchases.

Xbox One users will have access to a free trial version of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, which includes the same features as PlayStation 4’s Core Fighters, but cannot be expanded with additional purchases. Xbox One users who wish to expand their game can purchase Core Fighters for $4.99. This includes the same content as the trial version, but with four additional fighters: Hitomi, Tina, Jann Lee, and Bass.

Regardless of platform, all users can transfer unlocked titles, costumes, and Story Mode progress from the last-gen versions of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate to both the free and full retail versions of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round. Additional characters, Story Mode, and other features can be accessed for a fee.

For players who already have Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, a free update is available which will upgrade the game to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round and allow online play with players who have the retail or digital version of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. Players can also purchase the Last Round Set which contains new characters and costumes.
